What is a two stage snow blower?

The difference between blowing snow with a Toro one stage snow blower versus a Toro two stage blower, is sort of like the difference between clearing your sidewalk or driveway with a broom versus a snow shovel.  Both will work, but one will work a lot faster and easier.

A two stage snow blower starts off working a lot like a one stage, using an auger to pull in the snow, just as in a single stage model. .  But, you know when you’re in really deep snow, a lot of that white stuff settles inside your blower and slows or clogs things up.  With a two stage blower, the excess snow is carried away by an impeller, the second stage of the two stage process.  Working together, the results are dramatic.
