Labor Day Lawn Care
Labor Day marks the official end of Summer, but your yard doesn’t know that. With the return of somewhat regular rain, it has a lot of growing to do yet this year. But, there are some things you should and shouldn’t do for your yard when we get to Labor Day.
Adjust your mower cut up a little bit. Take just the top third off and help build a deep root system. This time of year, mow when it’s cool and dry. Wait until just after the morning dew is gone. This avoids afternoon lawn stress. Even though fall is in the air, you need to make sure you lawn continues to get enough water. We’re not really sure if the drought is over or not.
Most people know you should fertilize in the fall, but wait until your drought and summer heat stressed yard has a chance to bounce back a bit, or you may do more damage than good.
Now that we’re mowing every week again, don’t forget that Crescent Avenue Gardens is a full-time power equipment dealer. They always have new lawn mowers for sale, year round. So, if you need a new mower, you probably won’t find it at the big box store anymore. They’ve been removed to make room for Halloween stuff .
