Good Weather helps you Grass Grow, and Helps your Weeds Grow Better too
Last summer, our lawn care concerns were about drought. This year, conditions have been almost ideal, with plenty of rain, even too much perhaps at times. Our yards have stayed green, and our weeds are thriving.
Conditions have been favorable for broad leaf weeds, and so not only are they doing well, they’re also producing a lot more seed this year to infect our lawn and gardens with next year.
Fall is the best time to treat broadleaf weeds. The plants are not under stress, and are starting to store nutrients to get through the winter. If they should happen to store some herbicide at the same time, that’s not a bad thing for us.
The main thing to remember is that fall is a great time for lawn renovations. Fall is Nature’s planting season. The soil is still warm, temperatures are cool, and there’s usually plenty of rain, even in the driest years.
