Another nice Rain, but not end of drought!
Today, Monday July 23rd, we getting another great lawn soaking steady rain. We also have a 30-40% chance of rain over the next couple of days and nights, according to the National Weather Service. The danger to our yards, landscapes and trees is not over, but every drop of rain helps. Remember, your plants usually send down deep roots to the ground water level, but there’s little ground water left under our soil now, so once the rain is gone, continue to water. Set a hose up next to your trees, and let a trickle of water run for an hour or so. that way, the water can work its way down to the lower roots, and encourage your trees to keep growing roots deeper into the soil where they may find water eventually. We’ve noticed a number of trees and plants that have died just over the past few days, even with some of the rain we’ve gotten. Stay vigilant with your yard, and you’ll have a good chance of seeing your grass, trees, and plants thrive again this fall and next spring.
